How to graduate

FINAL EXAM LM-54

Candidates for the LM-54 Master's Degree will present their thesis according to the guidelines published on the University's website (https://web.unipv.it/come-procedere-con-la-domanda-di-laurea/).
To ensure international visibility and with the approval of the supervisor, thesis may be written entirely in Italian or entirely in English. For theses written in English, the title must be presented in both Italian and English on the title page.
All theses, regardless of the language of the main text, must include a comprehensive summary of about 5-10 pages (including illustrations and graphs) in the other language. The summary should contain a brief overview of the introduction, results, and conclusions. The experimental section is not necessary; the references will be the same as those in the main text of the thesis. The summary should be placed at the beginning of the thesis, between the table of contents and the main text.
To minimize the risk of plagiarism, it is recommended that candidates properly cite any text or graphic material that is not their own, remembering that they are responsible for what they write.
It is important to note that the declaration regarding the acquisition of credits for "Further Language Knowledge" is issued by the thesis supervisor and must be submitted by the candidate to the Student Secretariat along with the graduation application.
This signed form by the supervisor can:

  • be sent via Filo Diretto https://a1700.gastonecrm.it/filo-diretto/#/login
    or
  • be attached in the "Graduation Application" section of the candidate’s reserved area, creating a single file with the graduation application to be submitted in the same section.

The thesis will be a non-editable PDF file, which must be submitted to the Student Secretariat by uploading it online through the reserved area by the deadlines for graduation exam registration. The Supervisor and Commission members will be able to access all the documentation for each candidate, including the electronic copy of the thesis, which can be viewed/downloaded. In the case of external internships, an additional copy of the thesis (in electronic format) should be provided by the candidate directly to the company supervisor, as co-supervisor. If the thesis is done at industrial companies and contains confidential material, the candidate, when uploading the thesis, may restrict its distribution to institutional members only (Supervisor and Commission), permanently or for a specified period.
